Mid-Atlantic Bag Compliance

The Mid-Atlantic region has some of the strictest bag regulations in the United States. Montgomery County, MD charges a 10¢ fee on disposable bags under Chapter 48. Prince George's County charges 10¢ under the Better Bag Bill (CB-32-2023). Washington DC charges 5¢ under the Anacostia River Clean Up Act. Virginia charges 5¢ under VA Code § 58.1-1745. Reusable bags with stitched handles are exempt in all jurisdictions.
